As stay-at-home orders continue due to the coronavirus pandemic, online poker is seeing a massive resurgence—with New Jersey and Pennsylvania reporting record-breaking revenue in March 2020. In New Jersey, online poker revenue surged to $3.63 million, nearly doubling February’s numbers and marking a 90.9% increase year-over-year. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania saw its own record, earning over $3.13 million in March, up from the previous high of $2.47 million in December 2019.

Both states are benefiting from legalized and regulated online poker, with players flocking to online tournaments like New Jersey’s Spring Series and Pennsylvania’s inaugural online championship. With major live sports betting markets stalled, online poker is proving to be a strong revenue stream during the COVID-19 crisis.
