In a major legal development, Tarrant County prosecutors have dismissed misdemeanor gambling charges against 46 out of 49 players who were present during the October 2022 raid at Watauga Social Poker Club in Texas. The dismissal orders, signed by Judge Ralph Swearingin, Jr., mark a significant victory for the players who continued to contest the charges.

Three other individuals had previously accepted plea deals and are not eligible for dismissal.

All 49 players were originally cited and fined $360, with funds seized from the club’s tables during the raid. The club, located in suburban Fort Worth, has remained closed since the incident. Authorities also confiscated a total of $205,000 in cash, including $132,840 in unawarded tournament prize money, which has yet to be returned.

While the players have now been cleared, serious charges still remain against the club’s owners and staff, who face accusations related to illegal gambling operations.

Some players have spoken out on social media following the news. Daryl J. Gresham, one of the cleared players, shared his reaction on Facebook, stating:
“I’m free… First part of the injustice has now been dropped… Now let’s go get our $205K the TCSO robbed from us at gunpoint.”

As legal battles continue, players and supporters are now turning their attention toward the return of the seized funds and further accountability from local authorities.
