The Women’s Poker Association (WPA) has officially announced that Bridgette Adkins has earned the 2022 WPA Player of the Year title—her second consecutive POY honor. Adkins, hailing from Dearborn, Missouri, cemented her status as one of the most dominant players on the ladies’ tournament circuit with a series of top-tier performances throughout the year.
Adkins racked up 444 leaderboard points at WPA-recognized ladies-only events in 2022, edging out several other elite competitors. JJ Liu, a Women in Poker Hall of Famer, finished second, while Canada’s Louise Francoeur took third.
Adkins had previously claimed the WPA’s 2020–2021 combined POY title, awarded jointly due to pandemic-related disruptions in live tournament play. The last player to hold the title before her streak, Texas pro Ruth Hall, finished eighth in the 2022 standings.
“It’s been an incredible run,” said Adkins. “To win this honor again among so many talented women is truly humbling. I’m grateful for the community and support the WPA continues to foster.”
