The summer poker calendar continues to heat up with the return of the BetMGM Poker Championship to the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Following the smashing success of last year’s debut event, the 2023 edition is set to run from June 9th to June 13th, once again hosted inside ARIA’s renowned poker room.
Last year’s championship exceeded expectations, drawing 343 entrants and generating a prize pool of nearly $1.1 million, outpacing the original $1 million guarantee. Joey Weissman emerged victorious, pocketing $224,236, with Germany’s Paul Hoefer and U.S. player Noel Rodriguez rounding out the top three.
This year, BetMGM is upping the ante, doubling the guarantee to $2 million, while keeping the $3,500 buy-in intact. The final table will be live-streamed from the PokerGO Studio, adjacent to the ARIA poker room, adding a professional broadcast touch to the finale.
To meet the ambitious prize pool, at least 100 online qualifiers will win their way into the event through BetMGM Poker platforms starting May 1st. Each qualifying package includes:
-
$3,500 Main Event buy-in
-
$800 Mystery Bounty buy-in
-
Travel expenses
-
Six-night stay at ARIA (June 7–13)
Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker at BetMGM, shared his enthusiasm:
“It’s great to bring BetMGM players back to Las Vegas during one of poker’s most exciting times of the year. For a second straight year, ARIA is delivering a Championship event, and we are happy to continue building on our relationship with MGM Resorts while connecting BetMGM online players to the best poker rooms in the United States.”
