The Setup:

  • Blinds: $25/$50 with a $50 big blind ante

  • Stacks: Xuan Liu had a stack of $55,700, while Mariano was sitting on a considerably larger stack of $161,850.

During the hand, Liu provides exclusive commentary, walking through her thought process and revealing insights into her decision-making in the heat of the moment.

Xuan Liu’s WPT Bankroll Challenge

Xuan Liu’s poker journey took an interesting turn last fall when she accepted the WPT bankroll challenge, a test that pushed her endurance and patience after her biggest downswing. She started the challenge with just $2,000, which had to cover all her poker play and travel expenses across Canada, from hotels to food.

It wasn’t an easy challenge. Liu spent months traveling through Canada’s arctic conditions, competing in both online and live poker games in every province. But as the challenge progressed, things began to take a turn for the better. Liu even scored a second-place finish in an online MTT while waiting for the Northern Lights in Yukon. After that, she enjoyed her biggest score, winning $4,000, which helped her cruise through the remainder of the challenge.

“It was tough, but I loved traveling across Canada,” Liu shared. “Seeing the Northern Lights was one of my bucket-list items. The experience was unforgettable.”

What’s Next for Xuan Liu?

With $2,050,000 in career earnings, Xuan Liu’s bread and butter has traditionally been tournament poker. However, her focus has shifted over the years. Liu is now looking to step away from the intense grind of tournament poker and focus on creating more content for YouTube, sharing her poker knowledge, and inspiring more young women to get involved with the game.

“I enjoyed the grind when I was young,” Liu reflected. “But honestly, I don’t love sitting at the poker table for long hours anymore. I’d rather focus on content creation and speaking engagements, like my recent visit to the MIT Poker Club. I want to do more things that inspire me, and hopefully, inspire others along the way.”

Looking ahead, Liu is excited about opportunities that combine her passion for poker and sharing her journey with others, whether through content or public speaking.
