Poker pro Lex “L. Veldhuis” Veldhuis is making waves once again as he pushes toward another remarkable finish in the ongoing 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). With global poker action shifting online due to the pandemic, SCOOP has become the stage for some of the most intense high-stakes battles — and Veldhuis is right in the thick of it.
The SCOOP-57-H: $5,200 NLHE [High Roller] event drew 184 entries, generating a fierce field of competition. After Day 1, only 20 players remain, and Veldhuis is sitting comfortably among the top chip leaders, holding the fourth-largest stack with 4,421,903 chips.
A Streamed Masterclass
Despite a late entry, Veldhuis streamed his entire Day 1 run, giving fans a front-row seat to his calculated moves and clutch plays. Unlike some previous High Roller tournaments, this time the cards aligned in his favor — especially during the critical late stages.
One standout moment came when Veldhuis turned quad sevens to crush the full house of Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden, scooping a massive pot. He later outplayed Naoya “nkeyno” Kihara’s pocket aces, hitting a straight against a dangerous flush draw. Veldhuis also eliminated Juan “Malaka$tyle” Pardo with a king-high straight and flush draw that beat Pardo’s set of nines.
Eyes on the Final Table
While Veldhuis is well-positioned, he’ll face stiff competition on Day 2. The current top three chip leaders are:
-
🇨🇦 “BOOGANDEHAH” (Canada)
-
🇳🇱 Job “DeadNylan” Greben (Netherlands)
-
🇭🇺 “xnrobix” (Hungary)
With plenty of poker powerhouses still in the hunt, the battle for the top prize is far from over. But with his current momentum and fan-favorite status, Lex Veldhuis is once again proving why he’s one of the most respected players in the game.
