For poker enthusiasts eager to return to the live tables in California, Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula has unfortunately not included its poker room in the first phase of its reopening. While the casino officially reopened its doors on Monday, June 1st, the poker room remains temporarily closed, with no official word on when players can expect the tables to reopen.

Reopening Details

Visitors to the Pechanga Casino website, particularly those looking for poker tournament details, are greeted with a message stating that the Pechanga poker room is temporarily closed. This news has left poker players in limbo as they await updates on when live poker action will resume.

In the meantime, the casino has introduced several health and safety measures as part of its phased reopening. Key adjustments include:

  • Prohibited smoking inside the venue.

  • Occupancy limited to 50% of normal capacity.

  • Half of the slot machines have been turned off to ensure distancing.

To enhance safety, Pechanga has implemented temperature checks at all four available entrances. Guests are screened using a device with a video monitor. Patrons are required to stand a short distance away from the monitor to have their temperature displayed before being allowed entry.

Modified Table Games Experience

While the poker room remains closed, table games at Pechanga have reopened with visible modifications to accommodate new health protocols. Plastic shields have been placed between the dealer and players, as well as between individual players, creating a more secure environment for all involved.

This setup has become common in many casinos around the world, especially with properties in Las Vegas also preparing for a similar return to normalcy.

Shift to Online Poker

With the Pechanga poker room still closed, many poker players have turned to online poker rooms to satisfy their gaming needs. The surge in online play during the pandemic has led to record-breaking traffic on various platforms. This uptick has translated into large tournament guarantees, reminiscent of the big payouts seen before the fall of major poker sites in 2011.

While Pechanga Casino has adapted to the circumstances by modifying its gaming environment, poker players in the area will have to wait a little longer before they can experience the live poker action once again.
